BIOGRAPHY OF EDWARD R. BUSH
Edward R. Bush was an important and celebrated artist in the Los Angeles Art Scene throughout the 1960's and 1970's. Already well known for his artistic endeavors and success in metallurgy and jewelry making, Bush went on to carve out his place in the historically significant Abstract Expressionist movements of his time. Bush worked at a feverishly obsessive pace for a decade and a half, creating a substantially large body of work. He developed his signature techniques to establish himself as a groundbreaking artist at the forefront of artistic expression.
Bush challenged and mastered his own techniques, which cannot be duplicated to this day. Starting with the use of acrylics in his early works, he refined his unique style to create and push his abstract forms. Bush went on to use powered pigments, handmade paints, glues and resins to develop his stylized shapes and textures to create his own recognizable repetition of patterns inspired by nature and neural circuitry.
A visit to Bush's bohemian studio on Highland Ave. near the Hollywood Bowl was always a magical and inspiring experience.
